October meeting

Keystone Woodturners

Keystone Woodturners is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. We share the purpose of providing education and information to those interested in woodturning. The Club was founded in 1996 and has grown to over 70 members. We meet monthly on the third Wednesday of the month. Check out the other tabs on this website for examples of what we and our members have been doing and for other information about the Club.

October meeting – October 21, 2016 at 7:00 PM

Meeting agenda:

Special October meeting will be the annual Keystone Woodturners Battle Tops competition

Battle Tops, a game of skill and pure fun, was introduced to our club by our very own Rob Shafer.  He built the arena and carries the torch for our annual event.  An article on our event was even featured in the American Woodturner Journal.

This year we want to include all members attending the meeting.  We encourage you to make a top and challenge the other top makers.  Regardless of your experience level,  tops are easy to make.  See the rules and instructions on our website under “projects”.  Here is the

If you would like to join the fun come see what Battle Tops is all about.

Pizza and drinks will be provided.

FALL PROJECT

Wig stands for cancer patients at Paoli Hospital and area cancer centers.  Wigs are provided by the treatment Centers to cancer patients who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.  The Keystone Woodturners members will provide lathe turned stands through September for distribution by Paoli Hospital.  These are three examples of our July contributions to the project.

WINTER PROJECT

Beads of Courage lidded boxes to be donated to  A.I. DuPont Childrens Hospital.
Through the Beads of Courage campaign, children receive a unique bead to represent each procedure or treatment. For example, a red bead for each blood transfusion, a yellow bead for each night in the hospital, a star bead for surgery, a white bead for chemotherapy. Their collection of beads becomes a tangible record of their journey. Each wood-turned box will be used to hold a sick child’s precious beads.  In 2015 Keystone Woodturners donated a total of 35 Beads fo Courage wooden boxes.  Our 2016 goal is 50 wooden boxes through November.  These are two examples of our July donations
