Keystone Woodturners – June Meeting

Keystone Woodturners

Keystone Woodturners is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. We share the purpose of providing education and information to those interested in woodturning. The Club was founded in 1996 and has grown to over 60 members. We meet monthly on the third Wednesday of the month. Check out the other tabs on this website for examples of what we and our members have been doing and for other information about the Club.

June Meeting

Our meeting this month will be held at Joe’s shop on June 17, 2015 beginning at 7 PM.

Meeting Agenda:

Welcome: Les Bailey – President

Show and Tell and President’s Challenge

Bring in your latest work and show it off. This will be the last chance for you to respond to Les’s Presidents Challenge to turn a bowl that can be part of our Club’s donation to the AAW’s Empty Bowls program that will be part of this year’s AAW (American Association of Woodturners)  Symposium in Pittsburgh, PA  on June 25-28, 2015.  Bowls should be finished and can be of any size and wood species. Each bowl should have your name and Keystone Woodturners  on the bottom, inscribed with ink or burnt in with a pen burner. We need at least 8 more bowls, so please do your part.

Demonstration

This month’s demonstration will be by Butch Ruggiero of the Lehigh Valley Woodturners. Butch will demonstrate how to embellish a turned object with a V tool.A group of four vases and bowls on display. A group of four vases and bowls on display.A group of four vases and bowls on display.

Raffle

Pat McBride will be conducting a raffle, so bring in your spare wood and surplus tools, donate them to the Club and give other members the chance to put them to use while increasing our Club Treasury. The more money we have, the better programs we can offer.

This month due to the tremendous success of our Wood Procurement Team and the very hot weather we will be selling Osage Orange, Norfolk Island Pine, Cherry and Maple logs they collected. We need to get them out of the sun into a cool place before checking becomes a problem. The logs have been sealed. Here’s a chance to get some great wood cheap!

Location

We meet at Joe McCann’s shop  His shop is located behind his house at:

                            387 Hallman Mill Road
                            Phoenixville 19460.

Parking there is very limited, so Joe has arranged for us to park behind the Seven Stars Inn on Route 23 (263 Hoffecker Rd, Phoenixville, PA)  which is a short drive from Joe’s. Once at the Inn parking area, get with other members and guests and car pool to Joe’s. To assure you make the meeting on a timely basis, try to arrive at the Inn by 6:45 PM. If you run into problems, call Joe at (610-331-2372).
