Keystone Woodturners – January 2016 Meeting

Keystone Woodturners

Keystone Woodturners is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. We share the purpose of providing education and information to those interested in woodturning. The Club was founded in 1996 and has grown to over 60 members. We meet monthly on the third Wednesday of the month. Check out the other tabs on this website for examples of what we and our members have been doing and for other information about the Club.

January  Meeting

Our meeting this month will be held on Wednesday January 20, 2016 beginning at 7 PM.

Meeting Agenda:

Welcome: Bob Zrebiec – President

Show and Tell

Our members bring in their latest work, describe how they made it and discuss the problems they experienced and how they solved them. This is always a great learning experience for all.

Demonstration –  Inlay Techniques – Greg Teter

A group of four vases and bowls on display.

Club Member Greg Teter will discuss the enhancing of turned pieces with Inlay. His presentation will include selection of the inlay material, preparation of the wood for the inlay, preparation and application of the inlay material, sanding, safety, and finishing.  Greg is a well known turner, and was featured in the December 2015 issue of the British “Woodturning” magazine which is sold in this country as well.  His discussion will include his current pieces, tool likes, dislikes and feature many of his works.

Raffle

Joe McCann usually runs our May Wood Raffle, and with the retirement of Pat McBride, will now be conducting our normal meeting raffle as well. Club members bring in their spare wood and surplus tools, donate them to the Club and give other members the chance to put them to use while increasing our Club Treasury. Guests may participate in the raffle.

Location

We meet at Joe McCann’s shop. His shop is located behind his house at:

                            387 Hallman Mill Road
                            Phoenixville 19460.

Visitors are welcome, so if you have an interest in woodturning, come on out to our next meeting and check us out! If you come, bring a folding chair. If you have any questions, please contact:
